The olive tree is a component of the Mediterranean landscape. Complementary to that of the vine, its culture in Cucuron dates back to 16th century.
Today, with its two mills in operation showcasing olive oil from our hills, Cucuron is one of the most important olive-growing communities in the Vaucluse.
The dominant variety « the Aglandau » gives an oil with aromas of greenery, raw artichoke, green apple and dried fruit. Its intensity makes it very popular with connoisseurs of the fruitiness and finesse of matured olive oil and enabled it to obtain the AOC « Olive Oil from Provence ».
Olive oil is an essential component of Mediterranean cuisine known for its health claims.
